Dale Threlkeld

Artist's Statement and Bio

"A work of art should be a revelation. Art that is a revelation explores the territory between the explicable and the inexplicable. The inexplicable is more interesting to me. As with any adventure, the process of painting is full of the potential unknown. Something new is revealed even though it may be linked to what we already know or suspect. The beauty of it is its mystery; the mystery of it is its beauty."  - Dale Threlkeld

Dale grew up in rural Missouri and on the racetrack circuit traveling with his father, who was a jockey and trainer. His first grade teacher was an artist. His mother was an early inspiration as she went back to school late in life to become a nurse. Dale attended Northeast Missouri State University, Ball State University and Southern Illinois University with a year in Vietnam in between. Dale's first New York gallery was Gimpel & Weitzenhoffer. He also exhibited at Frank Marino and Gensis Gallery as well as various museum exhibitions including The Dubuque Museum of Art, The Illinois State Museum and the Brooklyn Museum of Art.
